It's not always obvious

Unsafe relationships aren't always physically violent. Controlling behaviour, manipulation, and fear can exist in many forms — and every single one of them is a valid reason to seek support.

Coercive control
Controlling what you wear, who you see, where you go, or how you spend your own money. Making you feel like you need permission to live your life.
Emotional & psychological abuse
Being made to feel worthless, stupid, or like everything is your fault. Constant criticism, humiliation, or being made to question your own reality.
Digital abuse & stalking
Monitoring your phone, demanding passwords, tracking your location, or using technology to intimidate, control, or publicly shame you.
Financial abuse
Being denied access to money, forced to hand over your income, or having someone sabotage your ability to work or study.
Isolation
Being slowly cut off from friends and family until the person causing harm becomes your only source of support and connection.
Physical violence
Any unwanted physical contact — hitting, pushing, grabbing, or physical intimidation. You do not need visible injuries for this to be taken seriously.

You don't have to figure this out alone

We've gathered trusted support, information, and resources in one place — whether you need someone to talk to right now, or you're just starting to look for answers.

Built with care,
for girls and young women

By Her Side is being built — carefully and with purpose — to become a full organisation supporting women and teenage girls across Western Australia who are in, or leaving, unsafe or unhealthy relationships. Right now, we're a growing resource. Soon, we'll be much more.

Education, support, and a safe place to land

Every girl and young woman deserves to understand what a healthy relationship looks like — and to have real, practical support when something goes wrong. Our goal is to reach young people in schools, universities, and online, before and during unsafe situations, not just after. We believe in early education, honest information, and being genuinely present for the people who need us.

Our values

You are believed
We start from a place of trust, always. You don't need to prove anything, justify your experience, or convince anyone. You are believed.
No judgment, wherever you are
Whether you're not sure yet, not ready to leave, or already out the other side — you belong here at every stage of the journey. There is no wrong place to start.
Your privacy is your safety
Your safety online matters as much as your safety at home. We never collect, sell, or share your data. Use the Quick Exit button anytime to leave this site instantly.
For girls and young women, always
Everything we do is designed specifically for our audience — teenage girls and young women aged 13 to 25. Not a generic service trying to be everything to everyone.

Where we're headed

We're working toward a full organisation offering real, hands-on support across Western Australia. Here's what's coming as we grow:

School outreach programs (years 8–12)
University & student housing programs
Mental health & counselling support
Safe housing assistance
Custody & family law guidance
Legal support navigation
Peer support community
Educational resources for schools
